Elizabeth from Bebe Suisse is going to open up the week for us with her contribution to the The Monday Snapshot – an evolution of the MMM feature, meant to bring the PAIL blogroll to life by giving its members a chance to feature themselves and make new connections.

This self-portrait was taken during a late-winter hike about a month ago, in the middle of the “honeymoon trimester.” I couldn’t really bend down – my husband had to strap me into and out of my snowshoes – and my newly unzippable snowpants were slipping farther and farther down my legs with each step. (Identify the culprit ….) But there was a brilliant blue sky, crisp white powder, beautiful views, and the hope of what is to come. The “honeymoon” has by now drawn to a close, but the hope remains and is growing each day.

Now, get to know a little more about Elizabeth with her answers to the Monday Snapshot “5 Questions”:

1) How long have you been blogging and how did you get started?

I’ll celebrate my first blogiversary in January. I got started in the aftermath of pregnancy loss, which brought me to my knees and left me not knowing where to turn for support. Being able to write down my thoughts and meeting so many wonderful bloggie friends who could understand and empathize with my feelings was critical to my getting through the pain.

2) Tell us a little about your ALI journey and your family (3-4 sentences):

Our journey has been more about loss than infertility, although my husband has teratozoospermia (low sperm morphology) and I have auto-immune hypothyroidism, which causes fertility problems. We hit the one-year mark in August and decided to seek treatment after the next cycle. Very happily, though, that cycle was the one that led to double pink lines … and despite a whole lot of fear and anxiety caused by the prior loss, all is going well. Baby is expected at the end of May 2013.

3) What makes you unique in the blogging world? (e.g. special talent, rare diagnosis, life experience)?

My husband is Swiss, and we live together in Switzerland. After a few years of being here, I’m adapting to the Swiss way of life, but sometimes all I can do is laugh at the differences between this culture and my own. I try to capture this part of my life on my blog, too.

4) One word to describe yourself:

Tenacious

5) What blog or website (IF or not) would you recommend to others? Why?

I have loved Smitten Kitchen since the very beginning. Deb’s touching stories and beautiful photography bring the site to life, and her recipes are fantastic. This is my go-to site for planning dinner parties or figuring out how best to pass a lazy Sunday afternoon in the kitchen.
