Sarah of Fallopian Groove (is a terrible name for a blog) is going to open up the week for us with her contribution to the The Monday Snapshot – an evolution of the MMM feature, meant to bring the PAIL blogroll to life by giving its members a chance to feature themselves and make new connections.

Hi anonymous interwebs, I’m Sarah. I’m expecting a gaggle of cells that they assure me is fast-becoming a human baby boy this December – exactly one year since I first started blogging and longer still since we first started trying to conceive. While many of us surely wish we never had to contend with early morning ultrasound wandings and having our fallopian tubes lit up with radioactive dye, it’s been totally empowering to be a part of this IF blogging neighborhood. Now if only we could figure out how to prepare our 6 year old lab for the new arrival (here she can be seen happily gnawing on ultrasound pictures).

Now, get to know a little more about Sarah with her answers to the Monday Snapshot “5 Questions”:

1) How long have you been blogging and how did you get started?

I have been blogging since December 2012. It started out of some not-very-profound combination of desperation and frustration. I had been stalking several blogs during the early days of the infertility struggle, trying to make sense of all the crazy acronyms and jargon (I still gag a little every time I see the words “baby dance”). Then, for one reason or another, I apparently decided that the anonymous blog-o-sphere might enjoy suffering through my peculiar breed of sarcastic commentary. And, now, here we are – exposing the world to the goofy antics of my pre-natal yoga class and my particular variety of walk-off-a-tall-building pregnancy anxiety, 1st trimester shingles and misadventures in maternity retail.

2) Tell us a little about your ALI journey and your family (3-4 sentences):

My lovely doctor-husband C and I have been together for more than a decade and we had a baby name picked out by the time we were juniors in college. Suffice it to say, we were ready to be parents (and our dog was becoming a spoiled brat with all of our undivided attention). So we started trying. And trying, and trying, and trying. After a little junior league infertility – Clomid, IUI, and an early miscarriage – we’re now a very surreal 22 weeks pregnant and kind of still holding our breath (Well, I am. Meanwhile he’s painting the nursery).

3)What makes you unique in the blogging world? (e.g. special talent, rare diagnosis, life experience)?

Immigration lawyer by day, superhero by night. And, *gasp*, soon to be mom?

4) One word to describe yourself:

Sarcastic

5) What blog or website (IF or not) would you recommend to others? Why?

Gosh. So many to choose from and I have a nice little list on my blog of all the regulars I read – all in all, some super strong, incredibly resilient, smart and witty women. But I guess to name a few… in the land of IF blogs, Sadie at Invincible Spring writes beautifully and honestly. Schrodinger’s Catbox is a blog that totally nails it, with crass, blunt humor and wit. I also really enjoy The Grand Science Experiment. Outside of IF blogs, I’m drawn to cooking and design blogs – I can regularly be found perusing the nurseries on apartment therapy as well as cup of jo, the wednesday chef and green kitchen stories, among many others. And, increasingly, I find myself neck deep in the vast vortex of mommy blogs – Alphamom’s week by week pregnancy calendar has kept me laughing well into the second trimester and Amy also writes her own blog (Amalah) which is great. And of course, Rebecca Woolf at Girl’s Gone Child writes and posts all things beautiful.
