It feels weird to me that I’m basically just a “normal” mom now. When I’m pushing the stroller down the street or carrying Dylan in the Ergo, no one can see what my husband and I went through to get to this point. They can’t see the many failed cycles, the chemical pregnancy, the IVF, the traumatic pregnancy. They can’t even see that Dylan was only 1 pound 15 ounces when he was born or that he spent his first 5 months in the NICU.
Sometimes I want to stop and explain to people just how hard it was to get here, but mostly, I’m happy I look like everyone else now. I’t s exactly what I hoped for. And I am SO lucky that Dylan is such a healthy little boy.
We are currently in the midst of figuring out sleep and we have begun the foray into solids. Avocado…not so much. Watermelon…better. It is mama’s favorite fruit.

Now, get to know a little more about Mrs. Green Grass with her answers to the Monday Snapshot “5 Questions”:
1) How long have you been blogging and how did you get started?
I started blogging a year and a half ago in September ’11. I had been trying to get pregnant for 14 cycles since my August 2010 wedding. I had just experienced my very first BFP in cycle 13, but had a chemical pregnancy. I needed an outlet and the blog was born.
2) Tell us a little about your ALI journey and your family (3-4 sentences):
We spent 20 cycles trying to get pregnant and were finally successful with our first IVF although that didn’t end the trauma of the journey and after a very trying pregnancy that started with higher order multiples. I was hospitalized at 23 weeks with bleeding and contractions and had D at 25w3d. In the process we did 3 Clomid + IUI cycles. IF was extremely trying, but the experience we’ve been through has definitely brought DH and I closer which is lucky because it just as easily could have broken us.
3) What makes you unique in the blogging world? (e.g. special talent, rare diagnosis, life experience)?
I’d honestly prefer not to be unique. But I am the mom of a 25-weeker. He will always be a 25-weeker even though he’s doing great so far. We spent nearly the first 5 months of D’s life in the NICU and my entire life changed in an instant when I was hospitalized. I also went through selective reduction after transferring two embryos during IVF and am now a huge advocate for Single Embryo Transfer. One of our two embryos split into triplets (identical twinning is more common during ICSI and IVF which we didn’t fully realize) and we made the decision to reduce to a single baby for many reasons, mostly for my health and to have the best outcome for our baby. It’s been extremely traumatic and I know that it’s controversial, but in the end, we definitely made the right decision for us.
4) One word to describe yourself:
candid
5) What blog or website (IF or not) would you recommend to others? Why?
I recommend Hellobee. It’s much smaller than some of the forums and although diverse, is much more ʺnormalʺ in my opinion. Although the mom world is full of hot-button issues, the conversation stays pretty respectful. The group skews a little older and a little more educated which I find appealing. It’s a great place to connect and get advice and actually get to know other moms on the internet.
